Windows Vista UI Guidelines

I was looking around for some Vista UI Guidelines and I ran across the Windows Vista Icon Development Guidelines on MSDN. I figured everyone could benefit from knowing this exists and where it is.

I wonder, with these big icon sizes, why don't they just make real photos of real objects instead of complicating life drawing icons, writing guidelines and so on...

Most artists will create the icons using vector graphics. This allows for resizing easier and look better than shrinking a photo.
